ELEPHANT - Save the Powers 2oz .999 High Relief Silver $5 Niue 2024

‘Elephant’ is the first coin in the brand new Lithuanian Mint’s coin series ‘Save the Powers’. The antique silver coin features a majestic image of an elephant, inviting us to reflect on the power of the nature around us and to do our part to preserve it.

The ‘Save the Powers’ series starts with one of the most endangered and largest land animals on Earth – the elephant, which bears an uncanny resemblance to each one of us. Elephants, like humans, are social animals. Thanks to their highly developed brains, they have willpower, problem-solving skills and the ability to learn from past experiences. Elephants use different body postures to communicate with each other and make sounds that are inaudible to the human ear, but can reach a group of relatives several kilometres away.

The reverse of the antique 50 mm diameter Elephant coin shows the figure of an elephant, adorned with gilded tusks, revealing the beauty of the animal and the ruthless reality of the destruction of elephants. The leaves, which are realistically arranged around the edges of the coin as if they were growing in the wild, are testament to the craftsmanship of the coin’s creators. The obverse of the coin features the footprints of different endangered animals – a preview of other spectacular coins in the series, which will also feature the gorilla, the Amur leopard and the rhino.

Let’s stop the relentless passage of time and restore harmony with nature’s living treasures. Life on Earth, after all, is what gives us strength.

We are inviting you to think how you could be a part of saving the powers today!
