2024 China Spilt Two Dragons Enameled with Pearl 2 x 1 oz Silver Medal Set

China’s Impressive Year Of The Dragon Medal

2024 promises to be an auspicious year as it marks the Year of the Dragon. The dragon is thought to be the most powerful and lucky zodiac sign in Chinese culture. Children born in a dragon year are thought to possess remarkable qualities throughout their lives, including cleverness, charm, eloquence, and even wealth. Chinese emperors considered themselves descendants of dragons, emphasizing the dragon’s esteemed position. To pay tribute to the Year of the Dragon, major mints around the world have released beautiful dragon-themed commemoratives, and none are more—dare we say it?— auspicious than this jaw-dropping medal from the world-renowned China Mint.

Struck With Unique Vacuum Technology

Not only does this spectacular medal feature the traditional design of two dragons in pursuit of the flaming Pearl of Wisdom, but it was struck with unique vacuum technology that allows the medal to be enjoyed as one piece or split in two creating a vivid yin and yang appearance! When pulled apart, a 24-karat gold plated “pearl” set in the center of the piece is set free. It also comes with a unique antique finish that adds incredible depth and detail to the medal’s intricate high relief designs. Typically applied by hand, the addition of this antique finish means that no two medals are exactly alike!

Colorized Highlights Symbolic Of Good Fortune

The elements that make up this intriguing design also includes enameled blue and green colors that have been selectively applied to the waves and clouds that float behind the dragons. These are key colors as green is a lucky color in Chinese culture that symbolizes Growth, development, cleanliness, purity, rebirth, and hope. Blue represents the sea, sky, and the ideals of calmness, stability, and security. The golden color of the pearl represents wealth, prosperity, courage, wisdom, success, freedom, and sophistication. Furthermore, in Chinese folklore, golden pearls are thought to symbolize luck and good fortune for the wearer.
