Whether they’re smiling cherubim or guardian angels that watch over us, angels are viewed as powerful guiding influences and inspirational messengers that bring tidings of joy. 
 
Angels are elegant epitomes of goodness, purity and hope—our best virtues and grandest aspirations—and wonderfully symbolise the spirit of peace, comfort and joy that reigns all year but more often during the holiday season in Canada.
 
The reverse image by Canadian artist Julius Csotonyi features a magnificently detailed winter scene. In a small town nestled among the mountains and snow-covered evergreens, hearts and hearths are warmed by a festive feeling; while residents come together indoors to celebrate, others yet settle into their warm beds for a restful sleep. In the starry night sky above, the town’s amber lights cast a glow as beautifully engraved crystalline snowflakes gently fall to the ground. In the centre of the reverse lies the focus of the design: a stunning glass angel flying high on large white wings, resplendent with a vibrantly coloured blue robe and golden halo.
 
Watching over the sleepy town, this angel presence infuses the scene with a peaceful, tranquil feeling that stirs the imagination with its message of peace, comfort and joy. Every glass angel was handcrafted, making it unique to each coin.
