The reverse of the coin depicts the Watatsumi Dragon, a legendary water god and Japanese dragon in the world of Japanese mythology. The dragon is depicted arising from the water and holding a beautiful Mother of Pearl insert. The design also features the representation of a typical Japanese temple and the inscriptions: “SILVER DRAGON” and “WATATSUMI” – the name of the coin.
 
The obverse of the coin depicts the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, surrounded by a themed pattern with dragons and snakes and the inscriptions: “ELIZABETH II” – the name of the Queen, “NIUE” – the issuing country, “2 DOLLARS” – the face value, “2021” – the date of issue and “Ag 999” – the fineness of the Silver.
