Once known as Hamato Yoshi, Splinter is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ sensei, or ninjutsu teacher. Exposed to the same mutagenic ooze that transformed the TMNT into crime-fighting superheroes, he is also the brothers’ adoptive father. Intelligent, wise, calm, and highly experienced, Splinter coaches his proteges in patience, discipline, and morality while being a formidable martial arts master himself. His strength, agility, and fiercely protective nature never fail in the face of danger.
 
The coin portrays a coloured image of Splinter in a fighting pose with an explosive burst in the background. The design also includes the inscription ‘SPLINTER’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
