This 2017 $30 fine silver glow-in-the-dark coin is part of the popular Animals in the Moonlight series, and features a Cougar in the Moonlight.  Designed by Canadian artist Jan Poynter, the coin combines quintessential elements of the Pacific Coast to present a cougar approaching a stream on a snow-covered shoreline. Moonlight defines the cougar's silhouette, and dances on the water and snow. The majestic cat is looking towards the right, as if it has spotted its quarry in the distance. Behind the cougar, subtle shades of blue and gold paint a silent, snow-covered landscape of islands rising up from the calm waters of an inlet. A mountain range spans the horizon, its peaks visible in the moonlight. The moon also illuminates the clouds, and stars fill the gaps between them.  It is a rarely encountered scene that captures a magical glimpse of Canada’s natural beauty and wildlife. Mintage is just 4,000 coins, adding to its scarcity and collectability.  HST / GST exempt.  
 
The Design:
Using a large 54 mm two ounce fine silver format, the remarkable design comes to life in the dark as it luminesces to create a breathtaking nighttime scene.  Engraved with every detail beautifully enhanced with colour, plus glow-in-the-dark technology that washes the scene with moonlight—the moon, stars, water, and snow shine when viewed in the dark! The effect is revealed after placing the coin in a light source for 30 to 60 seconds, then viewing in a dark room.  To view the coin with an immediate intense glow effect even in a lighted room, a black light flashlight is also included.
